Privacy Policy
Sparky application · Last updated: 2026-09-09
This policy explains how Gabriele Venosta, an individual, processes the personal data of users of the Sparky application (the "app"), a service to track anime progress and release dates. Processing complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
1. Data Controller
Gabriele Venosta, an individual (the app's developer).
Privacy contact: contact@sparky-app.it.
2. Data We Collect
- Account data: email, password (stored only as a hash), username, and an optional profile image (avatar) you upload.
- In-app activity: watched episodes and viewing progress, tracked series, ratings and favorites, custom lists, comments, and follows/blocks of other users. Your username, profile image, comments, and ratings are visible to other users; you can make your profile private in the settings. Reported comments are reviewed for moderation purposes.
- Signing in with Apple or Google: if you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or with Google, we receive a unique identifier for your account at that provider and the email address the provider reports to us. We never receive your password.
- TV Time import: if you choose to import your history, the export file you upload is processed to reconstruct your viewing progress.
- Technical data: the device name you associate with a session, your last login timestamp, and authentication tokens. The app includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking.
3. Purposes and Legal Bases
- Providing the service (account creation, saving progress, social features) - performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Security and authentication (tokens, email verification, password reset) - legitimate interest and contractual necessity, Art. 6(1)(b)/(f).
- Service communications (e.g. password-reset emails) - performance of a contract.
4. Third Parties and Recipients
- AniList: we use AniList's public catalog as our anime data source. Catalog requests are made from our servers; the app never contacts AniList directly and no personal data of yours is sent to AniList.
- Infrastructure providers: hosting and database, transactional email delivery, and avatar storage are handled by providers acting as processors. Some of them may process data outside the European Union; where that happens, the transfer relies on the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.
- Apple and Google: they act as identity providers when you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or with Google. Their processing follows their own privacy policies and may involve a transfer of data outside the European Union, covered by the safeguards those providers adopt.
- App updates: the app uses Expo's over-the-air update mechanism to deliver software updates; minimal technical device data may be processed for this, without identifying personal data.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (password confirmation required); deletion permanently removes your account data and associated activity. Access tokens are revoked at the same time.
6. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, and port your data. You can exercise access and deletion directly in the app, or contact us at contact@sparky-app.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
7. Security
Passwords are stored as hashes, communication uses encrypted connections, and authentication tokens are kept in the device's secure storage.
8. Children
The service is intended for users aged 13 and over, in line with the app's age rating on the stores. We do not ask for or collect any identifying personal details: no date of birth, no age, no first or last name. Signing up requires only an email address and a username, so we cannot verify a user's age. If a parent or guardian believes a child under 13 has created an account, they can contact us at contact@sparky-app.it and we will delete it; the same applies if we become aware that we hold a child's data without a valid legal basis.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
